How We Support Organisations

We support organisations at key points of change, when thoughtful, experienced leadership matters most: a change to your business offer or product, your systems, your organisational structure or your strategic direction. Practical outcomes, clearer decisions, and leadership that builds trust and alignment across teams.

How We Support Leaders

ONE APPROACH, THREE LEVELS

the Leadership Impact System

Decisions are made at every level of an organisation, and leadership effectiveness decides how well. The Leadership Impact System gives individual leaders, executive teams, and boards an evidence-based view of how leadership is landing, with focused, realistic shifts to improve it.

Each level has its own offer, complete on its own. Used together, they give a comprehensive view from the individual leader to the boardroom. Insight typically arrives within four to six weeks of engagement, depending on participant availability.

Ann is a qualified coach, with ILM 7 Executive Coaching accreditation pending.

Plain English

Credible, accessible, and free of jargon.

Behaviour and impact

We look at what people see and the effect it has, rather than personality.

Insight that leads to action

Clarity that moves leaders forward, not analysis for its own sake.

Developmental

The work supports effectiveness and is not an appraisal.

When this work is most helpful

None of these means something is broken. They are the moments when an outside, evidence-based perspective is worth more than another internal workshop.

  • Impact matters more to you than activity.
  • You want to know how your leadership is landing, particularly if you are new in post or recently promoted.
  • Decisions feel slower than they should.
  • Roles or accountability are blurred or lacking.
  • There has been significant personnel change.
  • The board wants honest, constructive insight.
  • There is significant transition in the business or personnel.
  • Pressure or scrutiny is rising.

OUR APPROACH

We work alongside leaders, not at a distance.

That means taking time to understand context, asking the right questions, and offering challenge where it is most useful. We bring structure and pace, without imposing fixed models or generic solutions.

A short conversation can help clarify the way forward.

Before we begin any piece of work, we take the time to have an initial conversation. It helps us understand what you are looking for, explore how we can best support you, and make sure we are the right fit.

We can arrange a 30-minute Teams call, or meet face to face if you would prefer a longer, more in-depth discussion.

About us

Simon Crozier founded 1080 Consulting in 2005, born out of a desire to add value and get things done. Ann Crozier joined as a director in 2010.

Both of our careers began in hospitality and leisure. Simon spent nine years at Whitbread Inns and four at Laurel Pub Co, deploying EPoS, stock and payment systems across estates of more than 600 pubs. Ann spent fifteen years at Whitbread, from running her own pub to leading strategy planning for the Restaurants Division, before running her own consultancy, BizIT, until 2010.

Between us, that early work enabled Costa Coffee to expand into smaller footprint sites; standardised back of house operations for Beefeater and Brewers Fayre; let pubs offer real-time promotions based on demand; and introduced standard payment, stock and order solutions across an entire division.

In the twenty years since, we have worked with a wide variety of businesses and individuals across many industries. The common thread is delivering value and unlocking potential. Today that experience supports leaders, executive teams and boards through The Leadership Impact System, executive coaching, interim leadership and strategic delivery.

Why 1080

Why 1080? It refers to a skiing trick involving three full in-air rotations, which takes the right speed, height and control: making the impossible possible.

Ann Crozier

Ann Crozier

Ann is a director of 1080 Consulting and works as an executive coach and adviser to senior leaders, executive teams and boards.

Ann's career began at Whitbread in 1991, when a university placement year led to her running her own pub as General Manager and licensee. She went on to spend fifteen years with the company, leading major systems projects in Head Office before moving into analysis and planning. From 2001 she led strategy planning for the Restaurants Division, and in 2005 she took on the full divisional strategy, working at Brand Board level across Beefeater (250 sites), Brewers Fayre (450 sites) and Costa Coffee (500 sites).

After Whitbread, Ann ran her own consultancy, BizIT, before joining 1080 as a director in 2010. CEOs, COOs and IT Directors have since brought her in to give structure and direction to complex, high-stakes work: defining property strategy and deploying a new stock, order and payment system at Mitchells & Butlers; delivering two pillars of the new ways of working at Punch Taverns; restoring a failing CRM programme at Merlin Entertainments; and leading strategy and transformation work for PizzaExpress, wagamama, The Restaurant Group and Picsolve.

That experience now shapes her coaching and insight work. Ann's approach is direct, confidential and grounded in real-world experience and judgement, with a focus on behaviour and impact rather than personality. She is a qualified coach, with ILM 7 Executive Coaching accreditation pending.

Simon Crozier

Simon Crozier

Simon is brought in when something needs to get done: a technology programme to deliver or put back on track, or a customer relationship to develop. His background combines programme delivery, operations and enterprise business development, and he spent many years as an independent Project and Programme Manager before moving into programme and operational leadership.

He spent more than a decade at Centrality, first as a contractor and then as part of the senior team and a shareholder, as the business grew from around five people to around 100 and £30m turnover, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, before its acquisition by Intercity in 2024. His programmes have covered Microsoft cloud, desktop transformation, infrastructure and large multi-site deployments, across many industries.

He keeps enough structure and governance in place to hold a programme under control, without letting process get in the way of delivery. On the commercial side, he starts with what the customer is trying to achieve, often with something small that shows value first. He is not a technical architect; he works alongside people who are.

At 1080 Consulting, Simon leads Delivery Management, Business Development and IT Provider Review.
